Smooshie loves Dogs.

Our mission is to create wonderfully delicious Grain free treats for Dogs to put a smile on your face and a wag in their tail.

Established in 2017, Smooshie is a family run business in the reinvigorated city of Christchurch, New Zealand. The concept for Smooshie developed from our love of our own pooch, a peppy French Bulldog named Boris, and wanting to provide him with dog-friendly and healthy treats. After finding many treats had preservatives and unnecessary additives, we decided to create a batch of home-made treats which Boris LOVED. From then on the ideas developed into an obsession for researching canine friendly foods, to which we have utilised to create our fresh and tasty treats for Kiwi Dogs to enjoy.

Please Note: We only ship to locations within New Zealand. Our treats are currently unavailable outside of Aotearoa. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
 

Smooshie Dog of the Month:
Knox.

10 month old Knox, born on the 5th of November 2016, is a crazy, energetic Hungarian Vizsla who lives in Christchurch City. Knox was born in Taranaki and flew all the way down to Christchurch when he was 8 weeks old to be with his family. His favourite toys right now are his Kong squeezz dumbell and Nylabone Romp 'n Chomp freezer bone! We hand pick our ingredients to make sure they are the best of quality. 

Our treats contain:
- Besan (Chickpea) Flour, Tapioca, Coconut Flour, Carob, Beetroot Powder.
- Dog friendly nuts: Peanuts, Almonds, Hazelnuts.
- Free Range Eggs, Organic Natural Yoghurt, Coconut Oil.
- Raw Honey
- Fresh Fruit & Vegetables (Frozen Fruit when not in season).

Our treats DO NOT contain:
- Wheat products, Corn products, Preservatives.
- Salt, Refined Sugars.
- Fruits and/or Vegetables harmful to Dogs.

As a family, we pride ourselves on our love, care and consideration we give to each other and those in our lives, and want to bring those values into the running of our business.

Meet Boris

Officially @boristhebatdog on Instagram, Boris is our French Bulldog* puppy who has already brought us so much joy. His loving and playful nature was what urged me to create healthier treats to keep him as healthy and happy as possible. He can be seen at the dog park, heading to our sons school, or coming along with me to the University where I tutor. He is an extension of us, truly one of the family and community, and an all round gentle, friendly guy.

*French Bulldogs are susceptible to a myriad of health problems so keeping them on a strict diet is a must. Many treat foods contain ingredients that can harm Frenchies, and many other dogs, tummies. The ingredients I source are dog friendly, and portioned adequately to keep your dog, and our beloved Boris, as healthy as can be.

Smooshie Mum & Dad

Kia ora koutou, we are Siobhan and Donald, the creators of Smooshie. We live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and both have interests in reading, being outdoors, and spending family time. We are frequent brunchers, and often end up with jam-packed weekends full of sport, friends and family fun. Donald plays American Football and works in I.T. and Siobhan studies Postgraduate Human-Animal and Cultural studies. Our venture into dog treats has been well researched and we have taken advice and consideration from experts in the animal feed field. 

Smooshie Kid - Jamie

Jamie is our eight year old prodigy and he is in love with Boris. They spend every single morning cuddling on the couch, and often race around the house being the happy boys they deserve to be. Jamie is sports mad - playing Touch, Cricket and Tackle Rugby, as well as taking Guitar lessons. While Jamie doesn't have a job with Smooshie, he is definitely part of our ethos and environment, bringing energy and love into our day to day lives - honestly, without Jamie's support this venture would not be possible.
